Media Innovation Fund Phase 1 Now Open for Applications

Applications are now open for Phase 1 of the Media Innovation Fund (Dana Inovasi Media), a government initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s media ecosystem through technology adoption, talent development, and innovation. The fund’s first application window runs from January 1 to 14, 2026.

The Fund, announced following a RM30 million allocation under the Ministry of Communications, supports the media in four key areas:

  • Training to boost media practitioners’ skills;
  • Technology, including software and digital tools;
  • Equipment & hardware for production and facilities; and
  • Research & development (R&D) for innovative content, including artificial intelligence (AI) use.

Eligible applicants should be “local media organizations or companies registered with the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) for at least six (6) months, with an active publication medium (portal/newspaper), and holding a valid Media Accreditation Card (KPM) on the application opening date,” according to a statement (Tajuk: PENGUMUMAN DANA INOVASI MEDIA, 18 Disember 2025) from the Ministry.

Remember, submissions can be made in person at the Ministry of Communications in Putrajaya or via email to danainovasimedia@komunikasi.gov.my on or before  January 14, 2026.
