This Privacy Notice explains how Hashim Communications collects, uses and protects your personal data, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) of Malaysia. It applies to hashimpr.com and to our dealings with clients, journalists and business contacts.

1. Who we are
Hashim Communications (002118718-V) is a public relations and communications firm in Malaysia, operated by Kam Hashim as sole proprietor. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.
2. Personal data we collect
We collect personal details through hashimpr.com only when you choose to give them to us, mainly through the contact form. Specifically:
- Contact form and email: your name, email address, website and the message you send us, including details of any speaking or award opportunity you submit.
- Blog comments: if you comment on a post, your name, email address, website, comment and IP address. WordPress may also show your Gravatar profile image, which is linked to your email address.
- Website usage: like most websites, hashimpr.com uses cookies and similar tools from Google Analytics and Jetpack (WordPress.com) to measure pages viewed, time on site, approximate location, and device and browser details. We use this information in aggregate to understand and improve the website, not to identify you.
- Surveys: we do not currently run surveys. If we do in future, we will explain what we collect at that time, and taking part will be voluntary.
- Media and business contacts: outside the website, we keep names, job titles, organizations, work email addresses and phone numbers of journalists, analysts and business contacts for our PR work.
Access to any client areas of the website is by password only. We do not collect personal data, such as email addresses, to provide this access.
3. Where we get your data
Mostly from you directly. For media and business contacts, we may also collect work contact details from public sources such as media websites, company websites, LinkedIn and event materials, or from clients and other contacts who introduce you to us.
4. Why we use your data
- To respond to your inquiries and provide our services.
- To manage client relationships and share reports with clients.
- To contact journalists, analysts and business contacts about news and stories relevant to their work.
- To publish and maintain our free resources, such as the Speaking Opportunity and Award Opportunity pages.
- To understand how visitors use hashimpr.com and to improve it.
- To keep the website secure and to prevent spam and misuse.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers that help us run our business and website, including our web hosting provider, Automattic (WordPress.com and Jetpack), Google (Analytics and YouTube) and AddToAny (share buttons).
- Clients, where needed to deliver PR work, such as sharing a journalist’s interview request with the client concerned.
- Authorities, where required by law.
Some of these providers store data outside Malaysia. Where we transfer data abroad, we take reasonable steps to make sure it receives a level of protection similar to that under the PDPA.
6. Is giving us your data required?
Giving us your personal data is voluntary. If you choose not to, we may be unable to respond to your inquiry or provide our services.
7. Your choices
- You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by emailing kam@hashimpr.com.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
- You can withdraw your consent to our processing of your data, subject to any legal requirements.
8. Access, correction and other rights
You may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, or to receive a copy of it in a commonly used format where the PDPA allows. Send your request to kam@hashimpr.com. We will respond within 21 days. We may charge a fee for access requests, as permitted under the PDPA.
9. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. We then delete it or make it anonymous.
10. How we protect your data
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access and disclosure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commissioner and affected individuals where required by law.
11. Cookies
hashimpr.com uses cookies to keep the site working, to measure visits through Google Analytics and Jetpack, and to support embedded content such as YouTube videos and share buttons. You can manage cookies in your browser; some parts of the site may not work properly if you block them.
12. Children
Our website and services are not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
13. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with its effective and last updated dates.
14. Language
This notice is available in English and Bahasa Malaysia. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
