About the survey

Have questions about the survey? Find the answers below.

What is this survey about?

The Malaysia PR Outlook 2027 looks at how Malaysia’s tech ecosystem views PR: whether PR is seen mainly as media coverage or as a strategic tool for reputation, fundraising and growth, how companies manage PR today, and how they plan to use it in 2027, including in overseas markets.

Why tech?

Tech is where we work. Hashim Communications has worked with Malaysian tech companies since 2012, and that’s where we see the biggest gap between how PR is understood and what it can do. Tech companies raise funds, hire and expand overseas early, so their public profile matters more than most. Keeping the survey to one sector also makes the findings sharper and more useful.

Who should take part?

The survey is for two groups, and the first question asks which one you belong to:

Technology companies operating in Malaysia: from startups to established companies, whether Malaysian-owned or foreign-owned. Founders, CEOs, senior leaders, and marketing, communications, sales and business development professionals are all welcome. Please answer for your company’s operations in Malaysia.

Ecosystem enablers: the organizations that fund or support technology companies in Malaysia, such as investors, banks, accelerators, incubators, government agencies, universities and industry associations. Your questions focus on how you see PR for the companies you support, not on your own PR.

You don’t need to use PR today to take part. Even if you think PR doesn’t work, we still want to hear from you.

How long does it take?

About 4 minutes. Most questions are multiple choice, and the longer written questions are optional.

Is it anonymous?

Yes. We do not collect names or email addresses, and taking part is voluntary. You don’t need a Google account to take part. If you’re signed in to Google, you may see your email address at the top of the form marked “Not shared.” It is visible only to you and is not collected with your answers.

Please leave names and company details out of your written answers, since these may be quoted anonymously.

How will the results be used?

Results will be published in aggregate only, as a free resource for Malaysia’s tech ecosystem. No individual response will be identified.

When does it close, and when will results be published?

The survey closes on 15 December 2026. We plan to share the survey results on hashimpr.com in early 2027.

Who is running the survey?

Hashim Communications, a technology PR firm led by Kam Hashim, which has worked with Malaysian tech companies since 2012. Have a question? Reach us through our Contact Us page.

Can I share the survey?

Please do. Share it with colleagues, portfolio companies and peers in the ecosystem. The more voices we hear, the clearer the picture we can share back.
